INTENSIFY Clinical Trials Expand Across Europe: Key Updates from London, Turin, and Beyond

The INTENSIFY clinical trials, a key component of the Psych-STRATA project, are progressing significantly as we approach the end of the year. This initiative, which is dedicated to advancing third-line treatments for schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder, has reached new milestones in patient recruitment and trial site expansions.

We are thrilled to announce that the pilot sites in London and Turin have recently received approval to start their studies, marking a significant advancement in our trial efforts. Currently, there are nine active sites across Europe and Israel, including Innsbruck, Bielefeld, Mainz, Münster, Ramat Gan, Cagliari, Turin, Barcelona, and London. Additionally, three sites in Brescia, Naples, and Frankfurt are in the final stages of preparation, awaiting the sponsor’s approval to begin recruitment. The sites in Brescia and Naples are anticipated to start within the next month, with Frankfurt scheduled to begin in January 2025.

This development follows the previously announced successful enrolment of the first participants in September. With the opening of new sites across Europe, including the recent addition in Athens, Greece, and the expanded approval in the UK, the INTENSIFY trials are on a robust path to evaluate and potentially redefine treatment protocols for these serious mental health conditions.

To further bolster recruitment efforts, the Psych-STRATA team introduced a comprehensive enrolment package at the General Assembly in Bologna this past September. This package equips clinical sites with the necessary tools and strategies to effectively identify and enrol eligible participants, ensuring the trials are conducted with efficiency and scientific rigor.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of mental health research and strive to achieve better outcomes for patients across the globe.
