Psych-STRATA Raises Project Visibility at ECNP Congress 2026

Psych-STRATA project partners attended the 39th European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) Congress, held from 10 to 13 October 2026 in Munich, Germany.

Among those attending was GAMIAN-Europe, Psych-STRATA partner that helped raise awareness of the project and its ongoing research.

The congress brought together researchers, clinicians and mental health professionals from across Europe and beyond. They discussed recent developments in neuroscience, psychiatry and mental health treatment.

Connecting Research and Clinical Practice at ECNP

The scientific programme at ECNP Congress 2026 covered a wide range of topics related to psychiatric research and treatment.

One of the main challenges Psych-STRATA addresses is why some patients respond well to treatment while others do not. The project investigates biological and clinical factors linked to treatment resistance in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder.

Through this research, Psych-STRATA aims to support earlier identification of treatment resistance and help clinicians make more personalised treatment decisions.

Psych-STRATA’s project coordinator, Professor Bernhard Baune from the University of Münster, also contributed to the scientific programme. He delivered a presentation titled “Rapid-acting antidepressants: from phenomenology to clinical outcomes”. The presentation was part of the session “Achieving remission in treatment-resistant depression: current evidence and research on rapid-acting antidepressants”. His participation highlighted research on treatment-resistant depression, one of the areas addressed by Psych-STRATA.

Raising Awareness of Psych-STRATA’s Research

Attending ECNP Congress 2026 was also an opportunity to raise awareness of Psych-STRATA and its ongoing research among the wider scientific community.

The project focuses on an important challenge in mental health care: identifying patients at risk of treatment resistance early enough to provide more effective and personalised treatment.

Participation in international scientific events such as ECNP provides an opportunity to increase the visibility of Psych-STRATA’s research and highlight the work being carried out across the project.
